Konami might be bringing back some fan-favorite franchises

For many years Konami was one of the most important video game companies in the world. They brought us franchises like Contra, Castlevania, Metal Gear, Silent Hill, and they developed third-party hits like the T.M.N.T. arcade games and many more. But in recent years they changed their business focus to pachinko machines and other things not related to video games. A recent report suggests that they might be working on bringing back three of their most important IPs.

According to VGC, they received information from an anonymous source that told them that Konami is working on a new Castlevania game that will be a reimagining of the franchise that is being made by their internal studios.

And that’s not all. The same report affirms that they’ve had plans for some time to remake Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and that they are working with a studio from Singapour called Virtuos for this title. For many years fans have wished for a remake of the first Metal Gear Solid, but it seems that they will only be remastering a collection fit for modern consoles.

And regarding Silent Hill, we all remember the controversy that surrounded Hideo Kojima’s departure from the company. He was working on the new Silent Hills with film director Guillermo del Toro, but the project was canceled in its early stages. Konami might be planning a new game from the series but they could be searching or working with an external studio for this game.

As fans of the previous games from Konami, we hope that some of these rumors are true. But just like it happens with every report of this kind, we have to take this information with a grain of salt.
