Square Enix has made a decision to delay the release of their new upcoming title, PlayStation exclusive, Forspoken. According to a statement they made, Forspoken will undergo a five-month-long delay until October 2022.

The studio behind the development of the game, Luminous Productions published a Tweet on the official Forspoken Twitter account. The company stated that the decision was made to move the release date of Forspoken to October 11, 2022.

Luminous Productions continued the statement by saying that the company’s vision for this new and exciting IP is to deliver a game world and a hero that gamers across the globe would want to experience for years come and that getting it right is extremely important to them.

The studio concluded the statement by saying that they will be focusing all their efforts on polishing the game during the next few months and that they can’t wait for players to experience Frey’s journey this fall.

Forspoken was announced in June 2020 and is the debut game of the new Japan-based company, the Luminous Productions studio.

According to a few sources, the game will be released as a PlayStation 5 exclusive and will remain as such for at least 24 months before it is available on Xbox and other platforms.

The game is pitched as a narrative-driven adventure and players will be assuming the role of Frey Holland, a young female protagonist who will need to harness her magical talents in order to survive within the fantastical yet extremely dangerous land of Athia.

The game’s protagonist will be portrayed by Ella Balinska, an English actress best known for starring in the 2019 film, Charlie’s Angels.

It is a great sign that the same team, who are behind the revolutionized combat of Final Fantasy XV, is working on the game and there will be a lot of variety in terms of player abilities according to the footage shown during the game preview. However, it remains to be seen just how much of that experience transfers over into the final product.
