Ghostbusters – The Video Game looking to get a remaster in time for the next movie15th May 2019
So… erm, here’s a thing that I didn’t expect to surface at the same time as myself from the dark depths of gaming history, as it appears that the 2009 Ghostbusters game from developer Terminal Reality’s may be getting the remaster treatment.
Of course, this will be perfect timing if the rumours and evidence from the Taiwan rating board are true, given that the 3rd movie in the original franchise (4th overall) will be in cinemas next year. And given a chance to wander those long corridors in game with my trusty pack zapping ‘n’trapping every class 4 I see might just send my nostalgia into overdrive once more!
If you didn’t get to play the 10 year old game before (my god has it been that long!) then you’re in for a treat, as the whole thing just oozes a love for the two prior films while taking the plot from the 3rd proposed film script that was sent round Hollywood for years after Ghostbusters 2. Hell even most of the original cast came back to perform their roles and it really does show how much love they did have for the characters. Sure there are some events in game which kinda feel like a quick replay around what happened before, but with a neat twist, but each time they keep you eager to complete and progress the story further.
While only the Xbox rating has been seen so far, it’s a no-brainer to predict a PS4 version will be made in parallel to take advantage of the userbase and better visuals both console have, however it would be intriguing to see if a switch version may be on the cards? Lets not forget the original launched on every console available during 2009 (Even Wii, as a cartoonish alternative, although that was produced by Redfly with Zen producing the DS version) so it’s not like the machine couldn’t handle a polished and updated 360 variant now..
Rumours are the project is being handled by Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn and NBA Playgrounds developer Mad Dog Games, but until all official confirmations occur lets just take that with a pinch of salt.
