Ubisoft appear to be dropping out another compilation of their favourite franchise for current gen machines faster than I thought. As next year (or more March 29th to be precise) an “Assassin’s Creed Compilation” for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. has been spotted on German website ‘Media Markt’. The page doesn’t go into details of the pack, but given we’ve already seen an Ezio collection compiling Assassins Creed 2, Brotherhood, and Revelations, this could be the pack that combines ‘ The America’s Collection’ alongside Assassins Creed Liberation and Assassins Creed Chronicles. released on modern machines,
So why do I think this? Well Kotaku reported back in September on a Ubisoft quote indicating that a remastered AS3 would be arriving in March with “improved “gameplay mechanics” and “ergonomics,” that as yet hasn’t been picked up by mainstream media (shame!) Although I suspect Eurogamer will be rectifying this come Monday morning. Also given ‘The Ezio Collection’ contained remasters of the prior games, except for the brilliant first one. It would seem fitting to repack these up with updated visuals for a double dip during the upcoming year while there will be no new game in the franchise until 2020.
Of course Unity and Syndicate are still available separately on the current consoles so Ubisoft will no doubt not want to touch these titles for a little while yet (especially given the opening day bugs both had). However this collection will ensure 90% of the mainline franchise games are available physically on current day platforms, which is great for anyone just getting into it after 10 years.
And the next place were the franchise will be going? Well if my November 2011 Ubisoft questionnaire is still on the money, I’ll be putting a cheeky tenner on something involving Feudal Japan….
