Theme Park enthusiasts rejoice! as the PC classic RollerCoaster Tycoon will be launching for Nintendo Switch on 29th November (13th December for the US), albeit in the smartly titled ‘RollerCoaster Tycoon Adventures’.
This conversion of RollerCoaster Tycoon has some interesting history (almost like they were taking notes from the Vega Plus team), especially given this was touted round crowd funding site StartEngine asking backers for a simple $250 minimum each for a copy of the game and a fractional share of the profits..
Surprisingly enough, hunting down said source pages and indeed the pitch video today is nigh near impossible, with only press reports remaining to confirm the action. What’s more interesting is that at no point do any of the remaining reports advise the whole sum of money would be used on the game’s development, however they do highlight that Atari advised they may use some funds for other projects..
I have to assume Atari want to hide the fact that this game was crowdsourced, which seems odd. Unless they are attempting to backpedal away from any original promises made..
Developed by Nvizzio – The company behind the horrendous Rollercoaster Tycoon 4 and Rollercoaster Tycoon World, the team have a lot of experience of mobile app development, so here’s hoping with the additional beef of the switch the game returns to the series early highs..
If not, I’m sure money has been pushed aside to help it port to the Atari VCS.
