To be honest, I didn’t expect this series to be made backwards compatible for a while. So it’s a pleasant surprise today to find Microsoft dropping the news that the original, and it’s sequels Crysis 2 and 3 (but not Crysis Warhead) have all made the jump to XBox one via Backwards Compatibility.
Crysis was notorious on the PC scene for its high-end graphics, and the cost of a machine capable of running it during it’s release period. Yet it was those impressive visuals that enabled a wave of copycat games and launched the next gen into something graphically beyond what everyone thought the machines were capable of.
Sure at it’s heart it’s a run and gun simulator, which we’ve seen countless times with Call of Duty. However the imagination pored into the nanosuit gave it the edge in a cluttered market, something ‘Haze’ could’ve learned from.
Well worth a re-visit if you’ve never played, and are attempting to avoid CoD for the next few months..
