NextDAW – Spectrum Next’s premier music workstation14th August 2018
Having already pre-ordered this software myself, I can honestly say it’s one of the best upcoming applications I’ve seen for a long time, and that’s before I mention it’s for a platform about to hit the public shortly.
Gone are the days of clunky, programmer-centric trackers. NextDAW is a reimagining of a modern Digital Audio Workstation for the Sinclair ZX Spectrum Next. Supporting three AY-3-8910 sound chips, giving a total of nine channel audio to create your latest musical masterpiece! The integrated patch editor can create a wide range of music instruments and sound effects. Use the piano roll editor supports editing of notes using the mouse, step recording, or real time recording using the computer keyboard. The Arranger is used to quickly and efficiently create your composition.
While it’s import to mention that this software only works on the ZX Spectrum Next that will be released late 2018. It won’t be compatible with any other computer in the range. So don’t attempt to try and run this on your +2, +3 or original Sinclair models.
Oh and you’ll need a PS/2 mouse and splitter for correct operation.
NextDAW will ship in both physical (SD card, in a PS Vita size box) and digital-download formats, both of which include a digital instruction manual for £24.95 + P&P. So whether you’re purchasing for fun, or for use in your game/music projects, head on over to the NextDAW website to pre order.
